Mikhail Kuravsky
Senior postdoc (March 2018 to date)
I obtained an MSc in Bioengineering and Bioinformatics followed by a PhD in Molecular Biology from Moscow State University, Russia. Whilst there I studied in the group of Prof. Vladimir Muronetz, investigating structure-function relationships in glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase. In 2015 I joined the University of Lausanne as a postdoctoral fellow in Margot Thome's group. My work examined the impact of lymphoma-associated mutations on lymphocyte function. In the Shammas lab I will be developing cellular assays to monitor transcriptional activity of the transcription factor CREB.

Conor Kelly
PhD student (April 2017 to date)
I am on the BBSRC Interdisciplinary Bioscience Doctoral Training Program (DTP) having recently graduated from the University of Glasgow with MSci Biochemistry. My interests are in protein and cellular dynamics, and use of novel tools to characterise them.

Rachel Woolley
PhD rotation student (April 2017 to Sep 2017)
I recently graduated from the University of Bath with a degree in Biochemistry and am now in the 1st year of my DPhil in Structural Biology at Oxford. During a six month rotation in this lab, I will be using NMR and biophysical analysis to learn more about the structure and behaviour of the transcription factor CREB.

Luca Vecchia
PhD rotation student (October 2016 to March 2017)
I am a Ph.D. candidate of the 4-year Wellcome Trust program in Cellular Structural Biology at the University of Oxford. I graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 2010 at the University of Pavia (Italy) and specialized in Clinical Pathology at the same University (2011-2016). I am interested in combining high-resolution structural biology techniques with biochemical and cell biology analysis to uncover molecular mechanisms involved in human diseases, particularly cancer. In Dr. Shammas’ lab, I have worked as a rotation student on the conformational analysis of CREB transcription factor interaction with specific and non-specific DNA using Electronic Paramagnetic Resonance.
